Eating etiquette for beginners

According to a study having good dining, etiquette helps to establish your credibility and reputation.

  • Don’t blow your food, wait for it to cool down.
  • Always pass both salt and pepper dispenser together even if someone asks only for one of them.
  • Once you’re done with your food, place the fork and knife in the centre of the plate, not in a crossed position.
  • Once you pick up the cutlery from the table, It should be kept on the plate.
  • Start the meal only after the host arrives.
  • Don’t open your mouth while eating.
  • The cutlery is supposed to be held with handles in hand, thumb underneath and forefinger on top of the spoon.
  • Never use your fingers to push your food into your spoon or bowl.
  • Always Keep the bread on your right and water on your left.
  • Keep your mobile phone or any other gadget away from the table, only use it in case of urgency.
  • Do not drink water in the middle of your meal and always look into the glass while drinking the water.
  • Always taste the food before adding salt and pepper and avoid placing your elbows on the dining table.
  • Never lick your spoon or plate after eating your meal.
